English football trials rule to stop goalkeeper tactical time-outs

English football will trial a rule this season to prevent goalkeepers from faking injuries to disrupt play. Under the measure, if play stops for a goalkeeper injury, the manager must nominate an outfield player to leave the pitch for at least one minute. The trial, backed by the Premier League, FA, and other bodies, includes exceptions for genuine fouls or collisions. Related changes include a five-second countdown for restarts and 10-second substitution limit.
