US walks out of UN meeting over France remarks

The US delegation walked out of a UN Security Council meeting on Monday in protest at French comments comparing Washington's human rights voting to authoritarian states. The row stems from the US voting with North Korea and Russia against extending Volker Turk's term as UN human rights chief. US ambassador Dan Negrea vowed further protests unless France renounces its rhetoric.
