Indian panel summons Meta, Google, X, Snapchat over regulation

A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology has summoned senior representatives of Meta, Google, X, and Snapchat for a meeting on August 3 to discuss regulation of social and digital platforms. The panel, chaired by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, will also hear from officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting follows Meta's brief removal of a video by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which the company attributed to a technical error.
