Sports betting industry spends $72M on US midterms

Online sports betting companies have spent at least $72 million on the U.S. midterm elections, according to campaign finance data. The spending, channeled largely through the super PAC Win for America, comes as the industry expands following the 2018 Supreme Court decision legalizing sports betting in many states. DraftKings and FanDuel are the top donors, contributing $34 million and $27 million respectively. The industry has also increased federal lobbying spending significantly in recent years.
