India on Tuesday criticized the legislative assembly elections in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK) as a 'cosmetic exercise' by Islamabad to legitimize its 'illegal occupation' and hide human rights violations. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the polls mask widespread public dissatisfaction, as a 52-day protest movement continues in the region. He reiterated that the entire Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including PoK, are integral parts of India.
