7.1 Earthquake Hits Japan's Kyushu Island

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kyushu island, Japan, on Tuesday, trapping people inside an Aeon Mall shopping center and triggering power cuts. The quake hit Kumamoto prefecture, causing a building collapse, a chimney collapse at a paper factory, and damage to historic Kumamoto castle walls. Over 40,000 households lost power, and 300,000 people were advised to evacuate. Aftershocks continue, but a tsunami warning was lifted.
