Russia poisoning AI tools to spread disinformation: report

Russia is using a technique called Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) poisoning to manipulate AI models into amplifying false narratives, according to a report by think tank Demos. The report found that five frontier AI tools cited information from a Russian front group, the Foundation to Battle Injustice, despite EU sanctions. UK shadow technology secretary Julia Lopez warned that governments must ensure AI companies safeguard against state-backed disinformation.
