A six-month clinical trial of 128 teens who habitually skipped breakfast found that adding a morning meal improved diet quality, especially with high-protein options. Both normal and high-protein breakfasts increased intake of fiber, iron, zinc, and choline, while reducing consumption of desserts and sweets. The high-protein group also cut added sugar. Total daily calories remained similar across groups.
