SC quashes 2015 summons against Manmohan Singh in coal case

The Supreme Court on Wednesday quashed a 2015 summons against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in a coal block allocation case, holding there were no cogent reasons to reject the CBI's closure reports. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant set aside the trial court order that had taken cognisance under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Singh, who died in December 2024, had challenged the summons.
