FIFA sets September 19 deadline for World Cup investment plan

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has given member federations until September 19 to accept a $20 million offer each, backed by Joshua Kushner's Thrive Capital, as part of a plan to sell stakes in World Cup events in a new $20 billion subsidiary. The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from UEFA and other bodies, who argue the World Cup is not FIFA's to sell. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham also opposed the plan, saying football belongs to fans, not investors.
