NCDEX plans weather derivatives, platinum, cotton futures

Commodity exchange NCDEX plans to launch Rain Chennai weather derivatives, cotton futures, and platinum futures as part of a multi-segment expansion. Managing Director Arun Raste said the exchange aims to diversify beyond agriculture into equities and mutual funds, pending SEBI approvals. Weather derivatives, developed with IIT Bombay, help hedge climate risks like the 2023 heatwave that cut wheat output.
