A new report by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) estimates that if India achieves 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2045, it could prevent over 1.7 million premature deaths from road-transport emissions between 2025 and 2050. The report also projects 97,200 pediatric asthma cases avoided. Currently, road transport pollution causes one death every six minutes in India, with Delhi-NCR bearing a disproportionate burden.
