OpenAI to Give 100,000 Researchers Free AI Access

OpenAI announced a programme to provide 100,000 academic researchers with free access to its frontier AI models by 2027, starting with 10,000 this summer. The initiative aims to accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines. Participants will get access to ChatGPT's GPT-5.6 models, Codex, and other tools with business-grade privacy. The effort is part of OpenAI's $250 million commitment to research.
