Study finds mold infections underappreciated threat

A first-of-its-kind U.S. study suggests invasive mold infections may be an underappreciated and deadly threat, detecting about 450 cases in Atlanta-area hospitals over five years. About a third of patients died in the hospital. Researchers at the CDC, which published the findings, warn that climate change and a growing elderly population may increase future cases.
