Displaced Nigerian mother rebuilds life through sewing

Safiya Musa, a displaced Nigerian mother who lost her husband and two children in a 2023 bandit attack in Katsina State, now earns income by making handbags through a UNDP vocational training program in Jibia. The Climate Security Project trained 20 women, providing sewing machines and materials. Facing a painful choice between returning home or staying in the camp, Safiya fears losing the fragile independence she has rebuilt.
