French authorities allowed 84,000 evacuees to return home Thursday as cooler weather helped firefighters battle a wildfire in southwest France that has burned 42,000 hectares, an area four times the size of Paris. The fire, which forced over 220,000 people to flee since last week, has killed two firefighters on the Greek island of Crete in a separate blaze.
