QatarEnergy buys 33 US LNG cargoes amid Hormuz disruption

QatarEnergy has purchased 33 spot LNG cargoes from the U.S. this year for delivery to South Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, India, and Japan, as it seeks to mitigate supply disruptions to key customers after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, halting Qatari gas exports. The closure, stemming from the Iran war, has trapped about 20% of global oil and gas supplies. QatarEnergy declared force majeure on LNG shipments.
