E20 petrol may cut fuel economy by up to 6%: Gadkari

Petrol blended with 20% ethanol (E20) can reduce fuel economy by 2-6%, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told Parliament on Thursday, depending on vehicle category and vintage. However, the minister said tests showed no engine failures due to E20, and the fuel offers 30% lower carbon emissions. The government has phased in the blend with extensive testing and manufacturer support.
