England on track for record heat deaths this summer

England is on track for its highest-ever number of heat-related deaths this summer, with the UK Health Security Agency estimating 2,877 fatalities during heatwaves in May and June — nearly double the total for the entire 2025 summer. The record of 2,985 deaths set in 2022 may be surpassed as August, typically the hottest month, remains.
