E20 petrol safe, no engine failure: Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told Parliament that E20 petrol can reduce fuel economy by 2-6% but has not caused engine failures. Extensive tests on BS-III to BS-VI vehicles showed no abnormal wear or corrosion. The government defends the phased ethanol blending program, citing benefits like better acceleration, lower emissions, and energy security. Over 20 crore two-wheelers and 3 crore cars have used E15+ blends without verified issues.
