Oprah Winfrey to close South Africa girls' school

Oprah Winfrey will close her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls near Johannesburg after the 2027 academic year, returning the campus to local authorities. The school, opened in 2007 with $40m, has graduated over 1,000 girls. Winfrey plans to expand a scholarship program for academically talented girls across South Africa. Students not graduating by closure will get full scholarships elsewhere.
