India's upper house passes anti-paper leak bill

India's Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, by voice vote after most opposition MPs walked out. The bill, already cleared by Lok Sabha, imposes stricter penalties for exam malpractices and paper leaks. It now awaits presidential assent to become law. Opposition walked out demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's response to police action against student protesters. DMK and BJD did not join the walkout.
