Parliament passes anti-paper leak amendment bill

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday cleared the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, which enhances punishment for exam malpractices to up to 10 years in prison and fines up to Rs 50 lakh. The bill, already passed by the Lok Sabha, triggered a walkout by opposition MPs who accused the government of rushing legislation without addressing root causes.
