Hungary's only nuclear power plant, Paks, will shut down for the first time due to record low Danube water levels, Prime Minister Péter Magyar warned, adding that the country's energy supply could become critical from Monday amid a heatwave. Romania has also shut one reactor at its Cernavoda plant. The low water levels, caused by prolonged heatwaves and low rainfall, have affected shipping and revealed sunken vessels and mammoth bones across the region.
