Law student alleges unlawful detention over protest role

Mohammad Junaid, a 24-year-old law student and key volunteer for India's Cockroach Janta Party protests against medical exam irregularities, has petitioned the Supreme Court claiming police unlawfully detained him. Junaid alleges he was held overnight and released the next day. Opposition politicians and civil liberties groups have criticized the action, while the court has directed no coercive measures against protesters without criminal records.
