CAG flags irregularities in Cyclone Amphan relief

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged serious irregularities in the West Bengal government's relief distribution after Cyclone Amphan in 2020, including duplicate payments worth Rs 18.07 crore and use of identical photographs for multiple claims. The report found that house-building grants were sanctioned based on recommendations of local political leaders without proper inspections, and damage classifications were not supported by evidence.
