AC Milan and Italy legend Franco Baresi dies at 66

Franco Baresi, the former AC Milan captain and Italy World Cup winner, has died at 66. The club announced his death on Friday, no cause given. Baresi spent his entire 20-year career at Milan, winning six Serie A titles and three European trophies, and was part of Italy's 1982 World Cup-winning squad. He had surgery for a pulmonary nodule in August 2025 and last appeared publicly at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
