Les Landes Forest Ravaged by Wildfire Again

Wildfires have again devastated the Les Landes forest in southwestern France, burning an area four times the size of Paris just four years after a major blaze in 2022. The 19th-century plantation—Western Europe's largest man-made woodland—is highly vulnerable because its dense rows of maritime pines fuel fast-spreading flames. With Europe warming faster than any other continent, President Emmanuel Macron said a different kind of forest should be replanted.
