Trump threatens to revive $1.8bn fund as Senate standoff deepens

President Donald Trump has threatened to revive a controversial $1.8bn anti-weaponisation fund unless Republican senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis back Todd Blanche as attorney general. The fund, previously abandoned after criticism, would compensate Trump allies over alleged political prosecutions. Blanche, acting AG since April, needs their support for confirmation. A committee vote is set for Tuesday.
