Sanctioned Tanker Leaking Oil Off Oman Coast, Images Show

Satellite imagery reviewed by the Associated Press shows crude oil leaking from the sanctioned tanker Caroline Bezengi, grounded off Oman’s coast near the Hallaniyat Islands. The sheen has spread about 20 square kilometers, threatening a marine protected area. The tanker, estimated to hold over 800,000 barrels of Russian-origin crude, has been stranded since June; experts warn strong monsoon winds could break the hull and trigger a larger spill.
