Australia warns H5N1 likely to spread after first seabird deaths

Australia confirmed its first mass mortality event from H5N1 bird flu after about 50 greater crested terns were found dead off Cape Jaffa, south of Adelaide, with 35 sick birds also testing positive. Agriculture Minister Julie Collins said more spread is likely, though no farm outbreaks have been reported. The country, the last continent to report H5N1, had long braced for the virus.
