Prashant Kishor stuns BJP with debut Bankipur bypoll win

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor won the Bankipur assembly bypoll by 19,324 votes, defeating BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar and ending the party's three-decade hold on the seat since 1995. Kishor secured 64,151 votes to Kumar's 44,827. He called the result a wake-up call for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and rejected any future political alliances. The victory gives JSP its maiden presence in the Bihar assembly.
