Eala makes history as first Filipino WTA singles champion

Alexandra Eala became the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour singles title, rallying past top seed Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in a rain-interrupted DC Open final. The 21-year-old overcame a set and a break down to dominate the decider. Taylor Fritz claimed the men's crown, beating Rafael Jodar 7-6(2), 6-4.
