Indian panel demands Zuckerberg apology over Modi video removal

India's parliamentary committee on information technology has demanded a personal apology from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for the temporary removal of a Facebook video by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, warning that Meta could lose its safe harbour protection if he refuses. The committee, led by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, rejected Meta's explanation of a technical glitch and raised concerns about accountability and algorithmic bias. Opposition MPs stressed that dissent on social media should not be treated as anti-national.
