Seventh round of Israel-Lebanon talks opens in Rome

US-mediated Israel-Lebanon talks resumed in Rome for a seventh round, focusing on pilot zones where Israeli forces will withdraw and the Lebanese army will take over. The talks come amid ongoing Israeli strikes and occupation of nearly one-fifth of southern Lebanon despite a June ceasefire framework that linked withdrawal to Hezbollah's disarmament. More than 4,000 people have been killed and over a million displaced since fighting erupted in March.
