Udhayanidhi Stalin faces backlash, custody over Trisha remark

DMK leader and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained by Chennai Police on Aug 4 after a remark widely seen as a vulgar, double-meaning jab at actress Trisha. His comment came during a protest over the Cauvery water dispute, when he criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and a crowd chanted Trisha’s name. Netizens, singer Chinmayi Sripaada and actor-politician Khushbu Sundar condemned him and demanded an apology.
