India Invites Bangladesh PM to BRICS Outreach as BIMSTEC Chair

India has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the outreach session of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi in his capacity as BIMSTEC chair, the foreign ministry said Tuesday. The invitation follows standard BRICS practice, officials said, and is separate from a bilateral visit invite extended after Rahman took office in February. The outreach comes amid strained ties over Sheikh Hasina's planned Delhi media interaction. Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian are expected to attend.
