Parliament passes two bills amid protests over Ayodhya, student crackdown

India's Parliament passed two bills on Tuesday amid sustained opposition protests over alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple and police action during a student march. The Rajya Sabha passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by voice vote, while the Lok Sabha passed the Appropriation Bill, 2026. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded an inquiry, clashing with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
