Punjab's Assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the Centre to suspend the mandatory nationwide rollout of E20 ethanol-blended petrol, citing risks to vehicles not designed for the fuel, repair costs, and losses in mileage. Moved by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema during the monsoon session, it also demanded an independent committee and questioned the early shift from a 2030 target to 2026. The move coincided with an AAP protest in Delhi.
