Shami names Shastri as favorite coach, cites freedom

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has named Ravi Shastri as his favorite head coach, citing the tactical freedom and aggression fostered during Shastri's tenure. Shami, who has been absent from national selections across formats, clarified his choice was not a slight against current coach Gautam Gambhir, noting he hasn't played enough under him. Shami last played for India in the 2025 Champions Trophy and will return to red-ball cricket in the Duleep Trophy.
