AI-generated stories rated better than human-written ones, study finds

A study in the journal Judgment and Decision Making found that AI-generated short stories were rated as more absorbing and of higher quality than human-written ones by 1,682 participants. However, stories labeled as human-written received higher ratings, suggesting a preference for authenticity. The researchers note that AI's simpler writing style is easier to read, but this does not make human authors obsolete, as creativity and self-expression remain uniquely human.
