Zuckerberg apologises for Modi post removal, content failures

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologised to the Indian government on Wednesday for the temporary removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Facebook post and for platform errors, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), deepfakes, and algorithmic bias. Meta executives admitted that "a lot of money was paid for boosting certain types of content." The apology followed meetings with IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and a parliamentary panel, which had demanded an apology within three days or warned of losing safe harbour protections under India's IT Act.
