Turkey files bill to advance peace with Kurdish militants

Turkey's ruling party submitted a bill to parliament on Wednesday to advance a peace initiative with Kurdish militants, including a pardon for about 4,000 former fighters not involved in violence. The proposal, backed by 360 deputies, aims to oversee the PKK's disarmament after its leader Abdullah Ocalan called for dissolution. The bill faces committee review Friday and must pass before summer recess. Previous peace efforts failed in 2015.
