Tamil Nadu's first TVK budget funds gold rings, cows

Tamil Nadu's new Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, presented its maiden budget on Wednesday, allocating over Rs 1,000 crore to fulfill election promises. The budget includes a scheme providing one-gram gold rings to newborns in government hospitals (Rs 560 crore), eight-gram gold coins and silk sarees for brides (Rs 812 crore), free milch cows to 10,000 women annually (Rs 57 crore), and subsidies for goats, fishing assistance, and other welfare measures.
