20 Indian LEO satellites at higher collision risk: Minister

India's space minister Jitendra Singh told Parliament that 20 of 22 active Indian satellites in low Earth orbit face higher collision risk due to crowding. ISRO conducted 20 collision avoidance manoeuvres in 2025 and nine in 2026 so far. India participates in international debris management frameworks and aims for zero debris by all Indian actors. The first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission is targeted for Q4 2026, with crewed missions by 2027.
