Indian States Ban Analogue Paneer Amid Food Safety Crackdown

Several Indian states, including Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, have banned the manufacture, distribution, and sale of analogue paneer, a synthetic substitute made from vegetable oils and additives. Food safety audits found over a third of tested samples in urban centers contained no milk fat, deceiving consumers and posing health risks. Violators face fines, closure, or imprisonment under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
