SpaceX rocket debris crashes into Moon

A four-tonne piece of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the size of a school bus, crashed into the Moon on Wednesday near the Einstein Crater at about 8,700 km/h, creating a new crater and kicking up lunar dust. The rocket stage, launched in January 2025, was left in space after a lunar lander mission and its trajectory was altered by solar and gravitational forces. NASA and South Korean orbiters are set to photograph the impact site, and scientists will study the debris to learn about cosmic impacts.
