Karnataka's delayed tur sowing may push dal prices up

Karnataka, India's second-largest tur producer, has sown only 55% of its 16 lakh hectare target due to inadequate rainfall, raising concerns of higher dal prices and lower yields from pest attacks. Other crops like ragi (5%), paddy (20%), and groundnut (32%) also lag, affecting farmers and laborers. The state's agriculture director warns of repercussions for both farmers and consumers if production falls short.
