Nigeria announced the rescue of 308 citizens kidnapped in Niger and Kwara states, in what it called the largest same-day rescue by its joint security team. The operation, led by the National Counter Terrorism Centre, freed 163 people from Kwara and 145 from Niger State, all found in Kainji Lake National Park Forest. President Bola Tinubu commended the security forces, as the country faces a surge in mass kidnappings for ransom.
