Tamil Nadu budget disappoints fishermen over Indo-SL issue

Tamil Nadu's first TVK budget raised lean fishing period assistance from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 for traditional fisher families, allocating Rs 135 crore for 1.93 lakh families. However, fishermen expressed disappointment over the absence of measures for mechanised boat owners, no increase in diesel subsidy, and silence on the Indo-Sri Lankan conflict, with around 200 boats still in Sri Lankan custody.
